Recovery for Wildcats

CWU's Collegiate Recovery Community is a place to gather and feel supported. Anyone impacted by substance misuse or addiction is invited.Hosted in the Office of Health Promotion, the community engages in events, support groups, individual supportive consultation, and so much more!

 

CWU Collegiate Recovery Community Scholarship

The Office of Health Promotion is distributing state/grant funds to support students in recovery from substance use/misuse or other addictions, or those significantly impacted by addiction.

Eligibility criteria

  • Residents and non-residents of the State of Washington or international CWU students. Note: International students must confirm with the CWU Education Abroad office as to their eligibility to receive scholarship funds.
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in Fall 2024 quarter at Central Washington University (all campuses, including online) as a student in good standing. Enrolled in a minimum of 12 credit hours for an undergraduate and 9 credit hours for a graduate student for Fall 2024 quarter.
  • Must have minimum 2.5 cumulative grade point average.
  • Students in recovery: At least 2 months of continuous recovery from substance misuse or substance use disorder and/or behavioral or process addiction disorder.
  • Student ally: Significant personal and/or family history involving alcohol or other substance misuse, or alcohol and substance use disorder or behavioral or process addiction issues.

 

Award amount criteria:

  • Recipients will be awarded up to $2,000 scholarship.
  • The awardees CWU student account will be credited.
  • Scholarship recipient may accept other scholarships and grants in conjunction with this scholarshipScholarship(s) will be factored into student’s financial aid package.

 

Applicants will complete a 2-page essay detailing their recovery process or how they support people in recovery. Students who receive funding will must meet expectations for membership in CWU Collegiate Recovery Community, as detailed in the application.

Paint and Chat! Co-hosted by Kittitas County Recovery Community Organization

 Join us for a Paint and Chat on Thursday April 25th from 4pm-5:30pm in SURC 256. This is a FREE opportunity to get creative, have fun, and create fellowship! All materials provided!

 

Art of Recovery Gallery and Scholarship Gala 

Join us on May 22nd from 5pm to 7pm to view pieces created by CWU students in recovery or impacted by recovery. Enjoy food and refreshments while browsing artwork and learn more about each piece from the artists themselves. At 6:30, we will be holding a short recognition ceremony for the recipients of the Collegiate Recovery Community Scholarship. If you would like to submit artwork, email Recovery.Community@cwu.edu 

The deadline for artwork submissions is May 17th. 

The gallery viewing and gala is open to all who would like to attend.

 

Free Drug Takeback Event

On May 29th from 2pm to 4pm, you will have the opportunity to dispose of any unwanted or unused substances you have, no questions asked. Substances may include; expired or unused prescription medication, birth control, expired or unused vitamins and supplements, cannabis products, sharps and sharps containers, powder substances, and more.  

Provided at the event will be: resources about campus and local community resources, personal sharps containers, safe drug disposal bags, Narcan (Naloxone) and fentanyl test strips.
